In 1702, Emanuel, the second son of a Baron, knew that he was low on the family line of succession. So, he asks his father to purchase a Commission for him as an officer in the Army of the Spanish Empire.
His father did as he was asked, and when Emanuel obtained a position as a lieutenant officer, he chose to go across the ocean to the New World, where he was assigned to the Saint Augustine Command in the northern Florida territory.
But when the War of Spanish Succession in Europe crossed the ocean and reached the New World, the British attacked the city of Saint Augustine. The Governor sent him to Cuba with a request for an Armada to help secure and save the city.
He would need help getting there and soon finds himself with a new wife, who is in danger if she remains behind, so she must go with him.
When they arrive in Cuba, a message from his father finds them, and they learn about the death of his older brother. Now as the surviving son of his Noble family, they both together must go to his family's home in Spain and learn all that is in their future.
