In 1702, Emanuel, the second son of a Baron, knowing that he was low on the family line of succession, asked his father to purchase a Commission for him as an officer in the Army of the Spanish Empire.
His father did as he was asked, and when Emanuel obtained a position as a lieutenant officer, he chose to go across the ocean to the New World, where he was assigned to the Saint Augustine Command in the Spanish northern Florida territory.
But when the War of Spanish Succession in Europe crossed the ocean and reached the New World, the British attacked the city of Saint Augustine. The Governor sent him to Cuba with a request for an Armada to help secure and save the city.
Needing some help getting there, he soon finds himself with a new wife, who is in danger if she remains behind and must go with him.
Upon their arrival in Cuba, a message from his father finds him, bearing the news of his older brother's death. Now, as the sole surviving son in his Noble family, Emanuel is faced with the daunting task of returning to his family's home in Spain and shouldering the weight of their uncertain future.
